Our cats, our family

In our home, our breeding dogs are not simply parents, but cherished members of our family. Their lives are intertwined with ours, their importance transcending our own. Each one is carefully selected, passing through the rigorous health tests specific to their breed.

But beyond their pedigree, they hold a special place in our hearts. They share our joys, our sorrows, and every moment of our daily lives. Their presence is a source of immeasurable happiness, their well-being an absolute priority. In our home, our breeding cats are not simply cats, but loyal companions, the apple of our eye.

Our kingdom

It is important to know that all our breeding animals live in a house in small groups.

There is a maximum of 5 cats per house.

Our breeding facility is therefore compartmentalized across several homes in order to ensure the most normal life possible for our breeding animals.

We believe that all our cats deserve a harmonious life and a loving family who will support them throughout their lives. Therefore, they are all accustomed to living with humans and interacting with us daily.

Our kings

Each of our breeding males and future fathers at the cattery has their own kingdom. They each live in a house, surrounded by their humans and enjoying complete freedom. This lifestyle allows them to fully express their temperament, with absolute respect for their well-being. This is a philosophy that is deeply important to us and reflects our commitment to respecting them 100%.

Our queens

Our mothers and mothers-to-be are the ones who travel to meet their Prince Charming when the time comes for marriage. In the meantime, they grow up and live with us, at the heart of our home and our daily lives. This lifestyle allows us to ensure adequate breaks between each pregnancy, while also making sure they are fully recovered and in perfect health before considering another litter.

Our selection process

Our future breeding cats are carefully chosen; we want candidates who are healthy, who fit the Maine Coon type, and who have a desirable temperament.

Only once all these criteria have been passed with flying colors does our beautiful family of breeders grow.

1 - Health

Firstly, health is paramount for us!

All our breeding animals must undergo tests to certify their respective health:

  • DNA,

  • FIV/FeLV blood tests

  • Hip X-rays

  • Cardiac ultrasound.

Once again, everything is done with the aim of maximizing our chances of having healthy kittens.

Impeccable health in breeding cats may not guarantee 100% health in ALL future kittens, but this precaution allows us to ensure a better yield and guarantees YOU a companion for life!

2 - Temperament

Secondly, the temperament of the future breeder is carefully studied. The well-being of each feline must be taken into account at this stage.

There are Maine Coons that are not suited to living in a community and are more fearful of their environment.

In order to offer kittens that are well-balanced in heart and well-adjusted, it is necessary to have balanced breeding cats, because the kittens will be a reflection of them.

That's why we try to socialize all our breeding birds and get them used to living with us in the house. By feeling safe in their environment, our breeding birds will be able to provide the best possible training.

Type 3 - Type

We ultimately base our choice on the physical characteristics sought in the Maine Coon.

We are looking for:

  • Good square profile,

  • Good muzzle,

  • Good ear placement

  • Plumes clearly visible,

  • Wild face

  • Rectangular build,

  • Colors corresponding to the breed,

  • etc.

You can read more about the desired physical characteristics in one of our informative videos.

Our retirees

Every ethical breeder aims to improve their breed. We improve it by choosing breeding stock of exceptional quality and sterilizing those that do not meet our selection criteria or those that have reached the end of their productive life.

Retiring breeding cats from a cattery is a healthy and important process. Even though we love them more than anything, not all Maine Coons have the potential to be breeding cats, and this in no way diminishes their value. We might also choose to retire a female or male depending on their age and/or after giving birth. We always make these decisions based on their well-being, which is our top priority!
